Manitoba Legislative Internship Program
The Manitoba Legislative Internship Program was established in 1985 by the Manitoba Legislative Assembly. It is intended to serve three broad purposes. The program provides graduates of Manitoba's universities, or graduates of other universities who are permanent residents of Manitoba, with an opportunity to experience firsthand the legislative process within the Manitoba Legislature. In addition to being directly involved with the legislative process, the Interns participate in a series of seminars related to enhancing knowledge of the government operations, the economy, media journalism, and the nonprofit sector in Manitoba. The program also provides MLAs of the recognized political parties represented in the Assembly with competent and educated assistance in policy research and constituency work. It enables them to delegate some constituency and other matters to Interns and frees them to deal more effectively with specialized and complicated legislative issues. The long-term goal of the program is to develop a group of young Manitobans who understand the -parliamentary system and the role of elected representatives within it. By fostering a knowledge of, and an appreciation for, the role of the Legislature within our political system among a group of future leaders, the Legislative Internship Program performs a valuable role in the province. International Internships
HerStart Fellowships are intentionally designed international volunteer placements facilitated by YCI that provide young professionals with the opportunity to make an impact on gender equality, climate action and sustainable development on a global scale.YCI’s HerStart program currently operates in 3 countries: Ghana (Tamale and Bolgatanga), Tanzania (Unguja, Zanzibar) and Uganda (Mpigi).
A ‘HerStart Fellowship’ is an opportunity to volunteer with YCI’s HerStart Innovate the Future program. Canadians have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute their time and energy to the bold goals of the HerStart program, while also learning about the critical global topics of women’s empowerment, climate action and social entrepreneurship. This volunteer opportunity has been designed as a ‘Fellowship’ to provide high-quality training, resources, hands-on experience and networking for Fellows, while also recognizing the level of knowledge and skills that successful applicants will bring to their positions.
