The HSA is a group of students, just like you, who want to balance their academic life with an on-campus social life. So, if you are taking a History course, you can join the strange and wonderful world of our Association.

Throughout the year we sponsor many social activities. The first is our Fall Mixer, which lets students and professors mingle in an informal setting and enjoy free food provided by the HSA. You can also join us at one of our Socials, where you can paint the town red with other students and even with some of the more adventurous professors. In December we have our Feast, a costume-dinner event based on a different theme every year.

However, we also encourage the academic side of students' lives. For instance, the HSA sponsors a noon-hour Lecture Series that features community-based speakers recalling their life experiences in various parts of the world. As well, we take an active role in the History Department, including participation in a variety of important committees. At the end of the year we hold our annual History Symposium, an all-day conference that gives students a chance to share their work with other students and professors.

These are only some of the things that the HSA is about. Feel free to stop by at one of our monthly meetings, or to attend one of our outstanding events.

The History Common Room, located across the hall from the main office in Ashdown Hall, offers an hospitable environ where teachers and students meet to discuss matters of common interest. It is available for the use of the History Students' Association, whose presence we welcome and whose activities we support. The HSA executive uses this facility for its meetings; and the Association's membership, which automatically includes any student of History, is free to use the room for the purposes of reading, studying, research, and discussion.
