Biography:

Dr. Doug Goltz has been a faculty member in The University of Â鶹´«Ã½'s Department of Chemistry since 1997. He obtained his PhD on the vaporization mechanisms of metals and inductively coupled plasmas from Carleton University and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at McGill University.

Research Interests:

Dr. Douglas Goltz's research interest is primarily in the area of analytical chemistry and the science of cultural objects. He currently active in a variety of projects involving the following.

  • Microsampling for metal and pigment identification using atomic spectroscopy.
  • Visible and Near IR hyperspectral imaging for examining historical objects using mid-IR and Raman      spectroscopy.

Since 1997, Goltz has garnered more than $1.8 million in research funding. Over the past 20 years, he has trained 22 undergraduate research project students and supervised 45 undergraduate summer research students.
