Dr. Annette Trimbee, Eighth UÂ鶹´«Ã½ President
SEPTEMBER 22, 2014: Dr. Annette Trimbee was inaugurated as President. President Trimbee grew up in Transcona and is an alumna of the University of Â鶹´«Ã½, having graduated with a B.Sc. in Biology, 1977. Her academic background is in aquatic ecology, and prior to returning to the University, she served in both academic research and government policy positions. She has some Métis ancestry and was inspired to continue the mandate of Indigenous inclusion started by Dr. Axworthy.
At her State of the University address in October 2015, President Trimbee launched her Strategic Directions for the University of Â鶹´«Ã½ that have guided its development since. The five Directions, named under the title “Growing Leaders,” are: Academic Excellence and Renewal; Student Experience and Success; Indigenization; Research Excellence, Knowledge Mobilization and Impact; and Financial and Institutional Resilience.
